In what will be his second week in office, incoming Westchester County Executive George Latimer will address the Westchester County Association (WCA) – the region’s preeminent business membership and advocacy organization
“There’s a sense of exciting things happening in telemedicine and technology,” said Dr. Christian Otto of Memorial Sloan Kettering at WCA’s HealthTech ’17, as he began his presentation for the panel Next Generation Telehealth: The Future Is Now. While still evolving, “Telehealth leads to longer survival, a 38% improvement in the quality of life, and 7% fewer urgent care visits.” According to Dr. Otto, telehealth will allow patients to:
• Include family members (even those living far away) in care decisions;
• Bring care and monitoring directly into the home;
• Access healthcare from remote locations without travel;
• See a doctor without missing work or needing childcare.
But will people use this technology?
On October 12, the Westchester County Association, the region’s premier business association, will host our fourth annual Health Tech Conference with a far-reaching series of presentations and discussions about the current trends and advancements throughout the healthcare industry. Recognized as the leading healthcare business conference in metro New York, this year’s conference -- Health Tech ’17: Driving Innovation in the Region – will address the opioid crisis, cancer breakthroughs, telehealth and remote patient monitoring, and national healthcare policy as it relates to New York. Conference attendees will hear from leading strategists from HANYS, Shatterproof, NewYork-Presbyterian, Aetna, the harris project, Pfizer, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and White Plains Hospital, among others.
(August 25, 2017) ...Tonight, the first of two 4-lane spans of the new Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge will open, replacing the former Tappan Zee. This project is one of the largest in the nation and the biggest in the history of the New York State Thruway Authority. By improving our infrastructure, both digital and physical, New York State -- and Westchester, in particular -- we are putting ourselves on an important economic trajectory forward.
