Consentino's presence has been growing in North America where it has opened locations in the Western and Midwestern regions; Mt. Kisco will be its entry into the competitive Northeast.
It's significant that Consentino's 31,500 square feet of combined showroom and warehouse space will occupy a building that was once home to Grand Union's distribution facility. Today, 333 North Bedford Road is thriving, thanks to tenants like Grand Prix New York, the Saw Mill River Club, and Wine Enthusiast.
"333 North Bedford Road is a great example of how repurposing Westchester's existing real estate assets can pay off for tenants, property owners, and municipalities," says Marissa Brett
, executive director of Economic Development and head of The Blueprint for Westchester
for the WCA. "This is great news for Westchester as the deal represents more positive absorption," she adds.
Cosentino USA is the largest distributor, fabricator, and installer of stone surfacing and decorative products in North America. It also provides Silestone, marble, granite, soapstone and architectural designs. Its parent company, headquartered in Spain, is the largest manufacturer of natural quartz surfaces in the world, operating six factories, 14 quarries and 17 fabricating factories, with more than 2,100 employees.
The new space will contain a state of the art showroom for stone products and more than 27,000 square feet of product displays under roof. The new Cosentino facility will distribute to stone fabricators, home improvement centers, kitchen and bath specialists, architects and designers from the Mt. Kisco location.
The company sold more than $271 million of quartz surfaces and natural stone in the United States in 2011, and predicts it will sell more than $365 million in 2013. The sales increases are driven by the openings of 10 new Cosentino Centers in San Francisco, San Diego, Cincinnati, Kansas City, Denver, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Orlando, and Portland, Oregon, which will bring the total number of Cosentino Centers in the United States to 22. The company operates 72 centers worldwide.
Howard E. Greenberg SIOR, President of Howard Properties, Ltd., represented Cosentino USA, and Jonathan Marwell of the Princeton Realty Group, also participated in the transaction.
