Chattanooga, Tennessee was the first city in the nation to offer citywide gigabit Internet service, offering residents and businesses ultra high-speed internet that transfers data at one gigabit per second—about 100 times faster than the average national speed, according to the city's chief, Mayor Andy Berke. We sat down with him after our Westchester: County of Tomorrow conference to learn how this fast fiber optic network spurred business investment, helped to bridge the digital divide, creating a fairer city and thriving innovation economy.
